Stefan Calos Named Shareholder
Of Sands Anderson Marks & Miller
Stefan M. Calos, a member of the Business, Finance and Real Estate practice at the law firm of Sands Anderson Marks & Miller, has been elected shareholder of the firm, President Pierce Rucker announced today.
"With his strong business law skills and over twenty years of solid experience in the courtroom, Stefan is a welcome addition to our owners," said Rucker.
Calos had been a solo practitioner in the Hopewell area for over a decade when he joined Sands Anderson in 2005. In his law practice, he represents privately owned businesses, business financing groups, business owners and executives, plus a number of individuals in matters including corporate law, commercial real estate, wills, trusts, and estates, business succession planning, and litigation. While he works out of the Richmond office of the Sands Anderson firm, he has kept an office in Hopewell for the convenience of his clients in the Tri-Cities area.
Calos serves as general counsel for the Historic Hopewell Foundation and has a life-long interest in history and historic preservation. He is a former chair of the Hopewell Architectural Review Board, was a charter member of and counsel for Heritage Gardens Incorporated, counsel for Hopewell Preservation Incorporated, and director of the City Point Branch of the Association for the Preservation of Virginia Antiquities (APVA). His law practice includes assisting property owners with the certification, management and disposition of historic rehabilitation tax credits.
In addition to the elevation of Calos to shareholder, Rucker announced that the firm had five attorneys who status had changed from "Associate" to "Counsel": Lisa Taylor Hudson of the Business and Commercial Litigation practice in the Richmond office; Michael T. Marr, Business and Professional Litigation in McLean; Jayne A. Pemberton, Risk Management in Richmond; Celie B. Richardson, Business and Commercial Litigation in Research Triangle Park, NC; and Andrew H. D. Wilson, Workers' Compensation in Richmond.
Founded nearly 170 years ago, Sands Anderson has 70 lawyers practicing among its offices in Richmond, Christiansburg, Fredericksburg and McLean, Virginia, and Raleigh, North Carolina. In 2011, it was ranked 11th in the Virginia Lawyers Weekly annual listing of the state's largest law firms. Sands Anderson provides a full range of legal services to corporations and businesses, healthcare providers, financial institutions, state and local governments, the insurance industry and individuals.
