Employment and Workers' Compensation attorneys to Speak at Employment Hot Topics Seminar, Thursday, April 2, 2009 at The Place At Innsbrook

RICHMOND, VIRGINIA--Attorneys with Sands Anderson Marks & Miller, P.C., will lead a special "two hour" Employment Law Hot Topics seminar at 8:30 AM on April 2 at The Place, a meeting facility in the Innsbroook Corporate Center on West Broad Street.

"This two part seminar is designed to give employers an update on the changes this year in the FMLA, ADA and Workers' Compensation," Employment Chair C. Michael DeCamps announced today.

January 2009 brought dramatic changes in the Family and Medical Leave Act and the Americans With Disabilities Act. Amendments to the Americans With Disabilities Act took effect on January 1, 2009 and reversed several Supreme Court rulings and significantly broadened the potential scope of the Act. These regulations substantially modify the way human resources directors must manage Family and Medical Leave issues. In this session, "Adapting to Changes in the FMLA and ADA, and Controlling Workers' Compensation Claims" and "Tips to Reduce Workers' Compensation Costs", P. Dawn Bishop, Esq., Cecil H. Creasey, Esq., C. Michael DeCamps, Esq. & Phyllis C. Katz, Esq., from Sands Anderson Marks & Miller will offer insights and direction concerning best practices that should be followed to meet the challenges and requirements of these major legislative changes and will offer tips, suggestions and best personnel practices to follow when implementing methods to reduce Workers' Compensation claims and worker costs. The program will be held Thursday, April 2, from 8:30-10:30a.m. at The Place at Innsbrook located at the corner of Dominion Boulevard and Broad Street in the Innsbrook Shops. A registration fee of $25.00 includes continental breakfast. To register, please call (804) 783-6781 or visit www.SandsAnderson.com.
