Thomas L. Bowden, Sr. is a member of the Business group. He focuses his practice on mergers and acquisitions, corporate transactions and corporate finance. He works in the firm's Richmond office.

Tom has extensive experience in corporate law, venture capital, private equity, real estate development, real estate tax credits, tenant in common syndications, public and private corporate securities, public finance and commercial litigation. Examples of the matters he handles include:

  • Frequently representing venture capital and private equity funds in formation and in portfolio for their investment transactions.
  • Initiating and spearheading the merger of Integrity Communications with Spike Technologies of Nashua, New Hampshire to form Spike Broadband Systems, including participation in developing worldwide sales and growth strategy.
  • Representing emerging growth companies and founders in various financings involving equity and subordinated convertible debt structures.
  • Counseling clients on strategies and techniques for establishment and protection of intellectual property.
  • Representing entrepreneurs in a highly successful re-launch of a large restaurant and brew-pub business.
  • Representing an industrial company in formulating and executing a merger and acquisition strategy that took the company from $3M in sales to its current annual sales of more than $2 Billion. (Listed NYSE, 1986)

Tom has been rated by his peers through the Martindale Hubbell Peer Review process as BV*. He has been listed among the Virginia Business Magazine's Legal Elite (2004) and in the  Virginia Super Lawyers directory (2006, 2008).

Tom is a regular contributor to RichmondBizSense.com, a local business news site that also produces a weekday business news alert. He blogs at VaBizLawyers.com and FinancialRecoveryLaw.com. He is an avid outdoorsman and wildlife photographer.
