Courtney Schorr is a member of the Business and Professional Litigation group. Her law practice focuses on complex civil litigation matters, including professional liability defense, insurance coverage matters, and trusts and estates litigation.  Courtney works in the D. C. Regional Office located in McLean, Virginia.

Courtney's legal background includes working in the District of Columbia office of a major international law firm, where she worked on complex litigation matters and government and internal investigations of white collar crimes and corporate fraud.  Some examples of her legal experience include:

  • Defending corporations and their officers and directors in securities class actions in federal court;
  • Representing a "Big Four" accounting firm in responding to a USAO subpoena and SEC requests;
  • Representing officers and directors of public companies in SEC investigations;
  • Conducting internal investigations of large public companies with alleged violations of federal securities laws; and
  • Representing a direct marketing company during an FTC investigation of the marketing and advertising practices.

Prior to entering law school, Courtney worked for an international consulting practice's Office of Government Services, and provided business consulting services to U.S. government clients.

Courtney graduated cum laude from the University of Notre Dame with a Bachelor of Arts in Government and American Studies.  She earned her law degree at the University of Virginia, where she earned honors for her legal writing, receiving a Legal Writing Dillard Fellowship and the  "Best Memo" and Bracewell & Patterson Oral Advocacy Awards.
